About Me

All You Need to Know About

Ciaran Eastwood

My Background

My passion for digital art began all the way back in 2012 when I first discovered Valve’s Source Filmmaker and the menagerie of assets available for it from my favourite games and franchises. Since then I have followed this passion into higher education, where I studied multimedia at Bridgend College from 2016/17 to 2017/18.

My Education

2011 – Coleg Cymunedol y Dderwen
Doing my GCSEs in CCYD, I graded well across my subjects, with my chosen GCSEs in Design & Technology Graphic Design, Resistant Materials, and Engineering, and a BTEC in Music. I was a passionate artist back in these days and still have 3 of my 7 sketchbooks full of art! I have no clue where the other 4 went. They probably disintegrated. Towards the end of my time here I also dove into digital art with programs such as GIMP and Source Filmmaker

2015 – Bridgend College, Multi-media
By this point I focused my studies, and discovered my passion for 3D art and animation, deciding it was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life (and that passion has held up so far!). Here I took my first steps into making my own assets, as well as introducing me to other tools such as video editing and sculpting. Whilst they tried pushing me towards more general skills I was firmly rooted in my love for 3D, and practiced my new skills in Cinema4D and 3DCoat

2017 – University of South Wales
Brought in on a Certificate of Higher Education degree, I threw myself into my studies here and enjoyed every minute of it. They taught us important skills and tools such as industry standard software like Maya, Mari, MudBox and zBrush, but we also branched out into cutting edge software like Substance Painter/Designer, Unreal 4, and photo-scanning and motion tracking software. It was a huge challenge, but it was worth the while.

2020 – The Dark Ages
We’re all aware that COVID happened, and it coincided with the last half of my 3rd year at University. The hardest projects became harder, communications broke down while standards were planned and tested to try and keep education going, but ultimately the breakdown of structure led to me stepping away and focusing on my own projects for the duration of the lockdown age. During this time I started experimenting with commission work and putting my art online and accessible in the form of digital content in Second Life.

2022 – University of South Wales
With Lockdown ending, I returned to my studies, though with a fresh set of faces to work with. Without coursework in the first half of the year, as I’d completed that in years prior, I spent the majority of my time making connections and helping my fellow students with their projects, as well as experimenting with cutting edge open-source AI such as Midjourney and Stable Diffusion as an aid for asset creation.

2023 – Graduation!
In this year I earned my bachelor’s degree in Computer Animation, and I’ve been taking some time for myself since then. I still create art and I keep my skills razor sharp, still uploading content to Second Life and other socials when the mood arises. The most challenging part of art is packaging and presentation, and is difficult to get it all polished.

My Programs

Blender is a very good program and I’m typing quite a lot of text to try and see how much text I can actually put in here before it starts capping me down like how far does this actually go before you just start skipping lines and overextending Oh I think I may have found it that’s amazing just typing a little more to and yep just making sure this is firm and stable
